My 2010 resolutions

So I absolutely hate even doing "new years resolutions" mainly because I don't like setting myself up for failure.

However, I feel like there are some things in my life that I really need to address, and what better time to start then at the beginning of a wonderful new year and the beginning of a decade.

Here is my list
1. I really want to start respecting my husband more. My personality is very type A. I am high strung. I love to be busy, and get things done right away, I talk non stop and always think what I have to say is very important. I can be very bossy, and loud and like things done my way. My sweet husband on the other hand is much more quiet. He doesn't' have a ton to say, but when he does it's usually pretty important. I tend to "walk all over him" I think the saying is. I can be so incredibly critical of him. I redo things he does around the house and then gripe about it while I am "fixing" it. I don't sit and listen when he wants to talk to me, I usually find a way to turn it into a conversation about "me". I don't get interested in things that are important to him.

So my goal in respecting my husband more are these 3 things:
a. Stop criticising him. Stop yelling at him when he doesn't do something the way I want it done. I need to realize that I am so lucky to even have a husband that wants to help me, and remind myself of that when I feel like griping.
b. Be genuinely more interested in his life. I need to let him do more motorcycle things. I need to really listen when he wants to tell me things that I naturally don't really care about, but realize that my man does care about them, and that's what he enjoys, I should try to enjoy those things because it makes him who he is.
3. I need to have more fun with my husband. Jeff can make me laugh like no one on the face of this earth. I fell in love with his dry sense of humor and I forget to listen to in anymore. Whenever I genuinely laugh at his jokes, he usually gives me that look that says "i love you babe" and then of course makes a comment about my goofy giggle. Then we always say the same thing"we need to laugh more" but those moments are too few and far between. I know that life is stressful and the "Daily grind" can take its tole, but life has to be fun, and I think with a little more laughing it could be great!

2. I want to start bringing God into my kids lives more.

a. I want to pray with then at night right after story time
b. I want to pray with them at dinner and teach them that we need to thank God for what he gives us.
c. I want Jeff and I to pray for our kids more, pray that they will grow up loving God.

3. I want to try to have family dinners at the table at least 3 times a week. Our schedule is so hectic, so I think that 3 times per week is doable. I have heard a statistic many times that has stuck in my head for years, and really motivates me to do this. "kids that grow up having dinner around the table with their families consistently have a 75% less chance of doing drugs, drinking our having sex then kids that don't. WOW. It shows what a positive affect just being together can make on your kids.

4. Of course Exercise and eat better. I still have about 40 pounds of baby weight left on me (Um yea, I had my baby 2 years ago, but to look at my stomach you would think I just had her) I have a sweet tooth so stinkin bad, I love to bake and make sweets. I want to be reasonable with this goal. I want another baby, so I cant say "I want to loose 40 pounds by this time" because who knows when another little munchkin we be in the oven, but I want to eat healthier, and devour less sweets. I want to be more active, bike ride, take walks with the kids, go swimming. I just want to be more active and have a more well balanced diet.

Well those are my big resolutions for 2010!
